Long battery life is a selling point? Who is Jishishi 01 suitable for?

Introduction

After Ideal L8 provided a quality answer to attract middle-class families, how to carve out a slice of the cake from Ideal's hands has become the direction that many car manufacturers are thinking about.

Thus, we have seen the new Enovate M7, which started in September with a direct price drop of 40,000 yuan, and at the same time, the new car also updated to the Hongmeng Smart Cockpit 3.0; however, when it comes to the price butcher, we must look at Leaper, with the pre-sale price of the C10 Extended Range version being 151,800-181,800 yuan, although the positioning is slightly lower, the cost-performance ratio is still full...

Of course, we have also seen the Jishi 01. However, the price of 349,900-359,900 yuan (the starting price is 10,000 yuan higher than the Ideal L8) and Luoke Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., both in terms of price and brand endorsement, seem to be a bit hard to put forward. We also have to ask such a question: who is the Jishi 01 suitable for? Previously, I also took the opportunity of the winter test between Chengde City in Hebei Province and Chifeng City in Inner Mongolia to deeply experience this Jishi 01.

On the other hand, I have encountered the Jishi 01 several times in Beijing. Judging from the eye-catching Beijing license plates, it seems that a certain number of people have already paid real money and scarce Beijing fuel car indicators for it.

A "dad car" more suitable for drivers

When I experienced this car statically some time ago, Jishi 01 was labeled as "more suitable for camping." As time went on, the team of Jishi 01 also seemed to realize the single and niche user needs of camping. Therefore, before the formal test drive, the camping attributes were weakened, while the characteristics of this car being more suitable for self-driving were deepened.

Yes, the dynamic feeling of Jishi 01 is one of the most impressive parts of my winter test this time. The Ideal L series and Enovate M7 that I drove before were all very comfortable in terms of setting orientation. Especially Ideal, even after updating the Magic Carpet Air Suspension 2.0 and setting all settings to sports, the dynamic feedback provided by Ideal is still highly comfortable, and the sense of isolation from road vibrations is very strong. The Jishi 01, on the other hand, offers a relatively firm chassis response and agile steering in different suspension modes. If we compare the driving experience of Jishi 01 with that of the Li Xiang L8 using more common car models, it would be similar to the Magotan and Camry.

On another note, through the vehicle's interactive interface, it is not difficult to discern a slight preference for the driver in the Jishi 01. For instance, the driving mode options are placed in the first-level menu bar at the bottom of the screen, right next to the air conditioning temperature display area, which is definitely a central position; also, in the driving mode menu, you can see a total of 7 driving modes: Highway, AUTO, Snow, Mud, Mountain, Sand, and Wading; under the Highway mode, the vehicle's power response, suspension mode, steering assistance, energy recovery, and energy mode can all be adjusted independently. Even for the very specific Wading mode, there are two options provided: off-road wading and urban wading.

Although some combinations of driving modes may never be used by the owner, the rich road information on the vehicle interface does not enhance off-road capabilities or acceleration levels. However, for someone who enjoys driving, there is at least a visual sense of satisfaction.

It has some off-road capabilities, but it is by no means a hardcore off-road vehicle.

Judging solely from the design perspective, users who prefer Li Xiang or Aito will be clearly distinguished from those who favor the Jishi 01. The former adopts a minimalist line and a full-bodied posture, complemented by the typical new energy vehicle's "avant-garde" design style of through-type lights, while the Jishi 01 features the traditional boxy shape of a hardcore SUV. If we borrow a netizen's comment, it would be a "combination of Li Xiang and the Land Rover Defender."

In reality, the Jishi 01 is not a hardcore off-road vehicle. It is true that the Jishi 01's approach angle and departure angle are slightly larger compared to competitive models, and during the winter test crossing the Ulan Butong grassland, the Jishi 01 also demonstrated certain climbing and self-rescue capabilities. On the other hand, the Jishi 01 offers a larger battery capacity and fuel tank volume. The official combined range is 1115 kilometers (WLTC condition), with a pure electric range of 235 kilometers (WLTC condition). From a data perspective, the straightforward method of providing a larger battery and a larger fuel tank has a more immediate effect on range enhancement than meticulously refining the aerodynamic drag coefficient. Of course, for the styling of the Jishi 01, it is also difficult to achieve breakthroughs in aerodynamics. It's as if traditional American muscle cars rarely rely on aerodynamics for performance improvements, but rather on the "great power comes from great engines" approach.

With the support of a large battery and a large fuel tank, the range will be more confident in scenarios that often require high power requests, such as on unpaved roads or even off-road sections. Then, on good national and provincial roads, in an environment below minus 10 degrees Celsius, we tested the Jishi 01's displayed electricity consumption to be 6.0 kWh/100 km, and fuel consumption at 8.5 L/100 km.

Therefore, for users who often travel on unpaved roads and frequently drive long distances, the Jishi 01 is indeed a more suitable choice.

How to buy the Jishi 01?

Like other new forces in car manufacturing, Jishi Automobile also adopts the method of online ordering and offline delivery. However, compared to other new forces in car manufacturing, Jishi's service network is currently pitiful.

Taking the Beijing area as an example, there are only three authorized body and paint service centers, located in Wangsiying, Laiguangying, and the Cool Car Town in Chaoyang District. As for the experience showrooms, there are currently none in Beijing. According to the information provided by the official, the showroom is expected to open on March 20, 2024.In terms of vehicle model selection, the Jishi 01 only offers two options: a 6-seater version and a 7-seater version, which correspond to the 2-2-2 and 2-2-3 seating configurations. Based on actual experience, the 6-seater version could more accurately be described as a 4-seater version. This is because the second row is equipped with features that are typically found in high-end MPVs, which significantly compromise the space available for the third row. Additionally, passengers in the third row cannot enter or exit through the central aisle of the second row. Therefore, the 7-seater version, which is more affordable, is more practical.

Furthermore, Jishi offers three optional packages. The 3000 yuan "Black Knight" paint job is purely a matter of personal preference. The 6000 yuan "Cross-Country Spare Tire" package is more suitable for off-road adventures. As for the 30,000 yuan "Advanced Intelligent Driving" package, it was not yet available during the previous test drive, and even the most basic ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) and LCC (Lane Centering Control) features could not be activated. In terms of hardware and software, Jishi 01 does not use self-developed technology; the lidar comes from Hesai Technology, and decision-making relies on Pony.ai.

Thus, the performance of Jishi 01's intelligent driving still needs to be evaluated through future real-world testing.
